1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website function, improve your experience, and provide information to the owner.
Websites can also save small bits of information in your browser's own storage (localStorage and sessionStorage). It works like a cookie, except it is never sent to the server by itself. We list those below too.
We sort them into three groups. Necessary cookies keep the shop, the checkout and your login working. Preferences remember your choices and your game. Statistics cookies note which page or link brought you here, so we can see what leads to an order. Nothing is used for advertising.

3. Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
Login, cart, cache and checkout cookies from WordPress, WooCommerce, LiteSpeed Cache and Stripe. Without these the shop does not work. These include:
- Account login functionality (only if you have an account)
- Shopping cart (WooCommerce)
- Secure checkout processing
- Security and fraud prevention
- Session management
Without these, the website cannot function properly.
4. Game memory
Your demo coins, explored rooms, ghosts, familiar and puzzle progress in Secrets Hall are stored in your own browser (localStorage, under s2d_house_v1), not on our server. We cannot see it. Clear your browser data and it is gone. You can also wipe it with the "Make the house forget me" button at the bottom of every page.
No account is needed for any of it. Your real progress lives in your Travel Journal, which you keep yourself.
5. Embedded videos
The Cinema shows YouTube videos. A video only loads after you click it, and it loads through youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube's privacy enhanced mode). Nothing comes from YouTube before that click. Once you press play, YouTube may store its own data in your browser under its own privacy policy.
6. The map
The map in the Library loads its map tiles from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). OpenFreeMap sets no cookies, but it receives your IP address, like any web request.
7. What we do not use
No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no selling anything about you. The statistics cookies above only tell us where a visit came from.
8. Legal basis
Under the GDPR and the Dutch Telecommunications Act, strictly necessary cookies and storage are placed on the basis of legitimate interest: the website cannot work without them. Preferences are features you use on purpose. The statistics cookies only record where a visit came from, are not used for advertising and are not shared with others for profiling.
9. Turning cookies off
Your browser settings. You can block or delete cookies and site storage there at any time. Note that the cart and login stop working without the needed ones.

- Payment providers at checkout: Mollie (privacy policy) and Stripe (privacy policy)
- LiteSpeed Cache, which serves pages faster
- YouTube (Google), only after you click a video
- OpenFreeMap, for the Library map tiles
All process data under applicable data protection agreements. We will never sell your data.
