Secret No.4
These are my fav kind of stories: Ghost stories. Apparently several hundreds of years a number of tunnels were found under the Edinburgh Castle that seemed to lead towards Holyrood House. They were small so a boy was sent down there with a pipe so people could hear him above the ground to track where he was. This worked fine until suddenly around Tron Kirk (royal mile) the music stopped. They never found the pipe or the boy and closed the tunnels. Ever since people have reported hearing the faint underground sounds of the pipe far on the Royal Mile...

Dogs are dogs. They are always welcome. The Scottish agree and they even created a dog cemetery for their furry friends around the Edinburgh Castle. The Argyle Battery is the burial ground for the important companions of the residents of Edinburgh. But if you listen closely you might hear the never stopped playing little fellows. You might even see the outline of a small black dog.

Secret No.6
Another ghost story. This time in the Edinburgh Castle. But this one is not so much about a ghost as it's about a warning. The Headless Drummer was first seen before Oliver Cromwell's attack on the castle in 1650. The boy was drumming in the rhythm of a marching army. Multiple knights saw him but none were believed. Up until the commanding officer himself saw the drummer and after understood that he had been sounding the alarm. Not much later the castle was captured.

Secret No.1
Shhtt! You found me! I have a task for you. Find the Sanctuary Stones. Near the entrance to Holyrood Palace you can find a row of three letter "S"s between the cobblestones. So yes you need to look at the GROUND. This was once the boundary of an area known as the Abbey Sanctuary. Here those who were in debt could hide. They were safe here, which meant they couldn't go to the Tollbooth Gael (which is Jail). One note though: food and housing was much more expensive here so the debtors would mostly go further into debt.
Secret No.7
This little statue on the wall of 267 Canongate at the Royal Mile is mostly overlooked. But it's legend is too interesting too miss. Long story short: A young man had to flee from Edinburgh due to assaulting the Provost and headed to Morocco. Here he became a slave but he rose up through the ranks, gained favor with the emperor and came back to Edinburgh with pirates. There he cured the Provost's daughter, who he married and he made this statue as an honor to his time in Morocco.

The haunting ladies. Isn't it great that us ladies are always the most dangerous ones? The Grey Lady or Ladies of Edinburgh Castle still roam the halls of the castle. They could either be a murdered Lady Janet Douglas or Queen Regent Mary De Guise but one thing is sure: she is always dressed in a 16th century grey dress and she is certainly not peaceful.
