Oh good, you’ve found the journal. The one thing standing between you and wandering around pretending you remember what you did, who you met, and why any of it mattered.

This one actually remembers everything for you. Every place you’ve been, every bit of progress you’ve made, every questionable relationship you’ve formed, and yes, even how much you’ve spent and which strange little “secrets” you thought were worth it.

It updates itself while you go off doing whatever it is you do, quietly tracking your levels, your funds, your inventory, and the reputation you’re building, whether you’re playing the hero or the villain, because your choices have consequences now.

Your level is tied to a familiar that grows with you and it unlocks more funds so you can buy even more secrets.

And then there are the characters like me, and Mr. Sterces. Relationships you can build, break, fix, and complicate further, possibly to the point where you become his child, or romance me if you try hard enough.

All of it is here. Except you can’t access any of it until you stop lurking and create an account.

Early July 1812, in a spa town in Bohemia, a half-deaf 41-year-old composer wrote ten pencilled pages to a woman he names only as his "Immortal Beloved." He never sent it. It was found in a secret drawer after his death, tucked beside his savings and the portraits of women he'd loved. We still don't know who she was. Here are parts of the letters that should've been sent:

"My angel, my all, my very self. Only a few words today, and that with pencil (with yours)... Why this deep sorrow, where necessity speaks? Can our love endure except through sacrifices, except through not demanding everything? Can you change it, that you are not wholly mine, I not wholly thine?

Even in bed my thoughts rush to you, my Immortal Beloved — now joyfully, then again sadly, waiting to learn whether Fate will hear us. I can live only wholly with you, or not at all...

Be calm — love me — today — yesterday — what tearful longing for you — you — you — my life — my all — farewell. Oh, go on loving me — never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.
